We are seeking applications for the position of Maths / Science Teacher for our High School.  This is a full time position and encompasses Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and possible homeroom teacher. 
Sophia Mundi is an independent Steiner School that is going through a process of consolidation and renewal.  We are therefore looking for an individual who is passionate about the Maths / Science area, with an area of particular interest and expertise.  This person will take the lead in bringing a programme that is enlivening and inspiring for our students while being academically rigorous. 
Part of the work requires a VCE component and experience in this would be needed.  It is desirable that applicants also have a background in Steiner education and short of this an openness and interest in developing this side of their teaching skill base.

Position Description

• Scope
  • Development and implementation of the Maths / Science programme, Years 9 – 12, with possible extension into Classes 7 and 8.  Someone who is looking to make a longer term commitment to our school and Steiner education, building and advancing the programme over a period of time.
• Accountabilities
  • To develop greater strength and richness in our Maths programme in our High School
  • That the programme fits in with the aims of our Steiner based curriculum and its attendant requirements around the particular impulses of each year level and the appropriate methodology in the classroom
  • To support the objectives of Steiner Education inherent in the curriculum across all levels
  • To maximize limited resources
  • The ability to engender in students a love for the subject, excellence and the sense that they are being rigorously assessed
  • To undertake to gain the necessary professional development
• Objectives
  • To relate the programme to our projected new site as part of the wonderful Abbotsford Convent Precinct and its natural aspect
  • To open out the area to extra curricular Maths / Science are as such as Sustainability
  • To take leadership in implementing the process of consolidation and renewal of our Maths / Science programme
• Required Skills
  • A passion for the subject and a capacity to engender the enthusiasm in students
  • Qualified, VIT registered Ms t with experience, and strong levels energy and of enthusiasm
  • Good planning skills
  • Strong sense of collegiality and capacity to work with teachers and management
  • Good communication skills
  • Professionalism in meeting timelines, assessment, reporting, preparedness for class, attendance at meetings
  • Knowledge of Steiner education preferable but not essential
