STRUCTURE

The RSSA is a National Association incorporated in South Australia.  There are two meetings per year of delegates from member schools.  In addition the Executive meets four times a year.

Members of the Executive are elected for a three-year-term and can serve a maximum of two terms.  The selection of members attempts to represent geographical locations, city/rural, large/small - but as the work of the Association has expanded and become more complex, particularly in relation to national and political issues, a more skills-based executive has been seen to be required.

The formal mandate of the Executive is to:

  1. Oversee the RSSA's maintenance and implementation of its aims and objectives as expressed in the Mission Statement
  2. Oversee the RSSA's formal and legal responsibilities
  3. Manage the RSSA's budget which has been approved by the general meeting of the Association
  4. Form, in consultation with other RSSA committees and members, the meeting agenda for the delegates' meetings and circulate in a timely manner
  5. Oversee the preparation and chairing of meetings
  6. Take responsibility for representation of the Association's position to government and peak body level
  7. Take responsibility for representation of Steiner Education at a national level to the general public
  8. Keep members informed of significant issues arising at national and state level, and to seek their views when representation is required on potentially contentious issues

The positions on the Executive are honorary.  However there is a part-time Executive Officer appointed to work with the Executive and for the Association.

Currently this position is held by Rosemary Gentle.
